Furaha - for Percussion Duet (2015)
Furaha literally means joy, fun in Swahili. The piece is a duet for Marimba and hand percussion and takes these instruments back to their original African and Central American roots while maintaining them in a traditional sense. Through dance-like rhythms, quirky harmonies, and playful melodies, Furaha will make listeners bob their heads and smile all at the same time. It even involves audience participation. The piece was written to be choreographed to for performances along side of dancers.
