Electric Etudes
The Electric Etudes series by Chris Cerreto is a pedagogical series of etudes aimed to enhance the performer's understanding of each specific instrument while mastering its most useful elements. Each instrument will have two different levels of difficulties. The first level will aim to develop necessary techniques for each instrument while the second level will focus on more extended techniques to further the performer's understanding of the instrument. The performer will play these etudes along with the electronic playback to also develop listening and contextual skills for a more real life experience.
All synths were created from scratch by Chris Cerreto. No presets were used in the making of these etudes.

Triangle Level 1 - Sync
|
Sync is the first level for Triangle. The performer will play along with a mixed meter electronic playback while developing the use of triangle rolls and different textures created by the triangle. The focus is to "sync" these rhythms up perfectly with the electronics to advance the dexterity needed for a clean triangle roll. |
Triangle Level 2 - Meta
|
Meta is the second, more advanced, etude for Triangle. The electronic playback for this etude was created by sampling the 3 triangles used in the original recording, and synthesizing them into a variety of sounds. Every single synth and sound effect used in the playback is generated this way.
This etude features a wide variety of extended techniques and textures used to help further the performers understanding of the triangle. The etude begins with 4 mallet technique with 4 beaters and progresses into 2 more sections all utilizing different nuances of the triangles. |
Tambourine Level 1 - Ease
|
Ease, the first level for Tambourine, will focus on multiple essential techniques for the tambourine. The performer's focus should be to maintain the accuracy and sound quality of the performance while being as relaxed or at "ease" as possible. |
